Ameripath is a leading national provider of physician-based,
anatomic pathology services to physicians, hospitals, national
clinical laboratories and surgery centers. AmeriPath is developing
regionally based, integrated networks of pathologists via the
implementation of its operating strategies. AmeriPath, with ongoing
operating elements in 21 states, is well on its way toward the
realization of its growth strategy expansion in the
Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Midwest regions of the
United States.
AmeriPath’s highly focused business strategy concentrates on offering
inpatient and outpatient anatomic pathology services via the acquisition
of successful, ongoing pathology practices; the consolidation and integration
of basic administrative services; the attainment of economies of scale;
and the development of long-term relationships with key clientele.
External growth is driven by the acquisition of high quality physician
practices in targeted markets. Although the leading provider in each
market, i.e., the “pedestal practice,” is the primary target,
smaller, high quality practices with sound reputations of excellence
may serve as initial entry points into a given market or as additions
to an existing market presence. Internal growth within each market is
driven by building long-term business relationships with key clientele
and other sources of business.
