AMERIPATH, INC. ACQUIRES MEDGENETICS DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORIES
Riviera Beach, FL, August 14, 2000 – AmeriPath, Inc.
(Nasdaq:PATH), the largest physician and laboratory company
focused on providing
anatomic pathology, cancer diagnostic, and healthcare information
services, today announced the acquisition of MedGenetics Diagnostic
Laboratories, a full-service cytogenetic practice devoted exclusively
to clinical and laboratory genetic services. Terms of the acquisition
were not disclosed.
MedGenetics Diagnostic Laboratories, headed by cytogeneticist,
Peter Kohn, Ph.D., has maintained an excellent reputation for
over 25 years. The practice has solid, long-standing relationships
with and provides cytogenetic services, consultation and genetic
counseling to the medical community in the southeast. The addition
of this practice accelerates the ability to accommodate the growing
menu of services offered by the Company’s Center for Advanced
Diagnostics to the medical community it serves.
