AMERIPATH, INC. TO PRESENT AT SALOMON SMITH BARNEY 2002 HEALTH CARE CONFERENCE

Riviera Beach, FL, October 25, 2002 - AmeriPath, Inc. (Nasdaq:PATH), one of the nation's leading providers of anatomic pathology services, today announced it will participate in the Salomon Smith Barney 2002 Health Care Conference to be held at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The Company's Chief Executive Officer, James C. New, will make the AmeriPath presentation on Monday, October 28, 2002, at 9:15 a.m., Eastern Time.

A live audio webcast of the presentation will be available on the AmeriPath website at: www.ameripath.com. A replay of the audio webcast will begin three hours after the actual presentation time and will be available through November 10, 2002.
