Palm Beach Gardens, FL, June 21, 2006 – AmeriPath,
Inc. (“AmeriPath”) a leading national provider
of anatomic pathology, dermatopathology, and molecular
diagnostics services to physicians, hospitals, clinical
laboratories, and surgery centers, is pleased to announce
the appointment of Michael W. Robles, D.O., as Director
of Gastrointestinal Pathology, AmeriPath North Texas. In
this leadership role, he will focus on the continuing development
of AmeriPath North Texas’ testing services used by
referring physicians in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment
of GI and digestive disorder-related diseases.
Dr. Robles will head the current team of GI-specialized
pathologists at AmeriPath North Texas, focusing primarily
on GI histological services, consultations on difficult
cases, and esoteric testing to assist physicians in the
diagnosis and management of GI and digestive diseases.
Prior to his appointment, Dr. Robles had the privilege
of serving as a Robert E. Petras fellow at AmeriPath’s
Institute of Gastrointestinal Pathology and Digestive Disease,
Cleveland, Ohio. During his fellowship, Dr. Robles’ professional
development was tailored through intensive, individualized
instruction; participation in a wide-ranging GI pathology
consultation practice; and assistance in the management
of a thriving GI pathology outpatient practice.
Stephen W. Aldred, M.D., AmeriPath’s West Regional
President, commented, “We are indeed pleased and
honored that Dr. Michael Robles has joined us at AmeriPath
North Texas as Director of Gastrointestinal Pathology at
the Alpha Road facility. He joins us after having completed
a rigorous GI pathology fellowship with Dr. Robert Petras
at the AmeriPath GI Institute. As a physician-driven organization,
we understand the needs of clinicians and the importance
of providing specialists in their local communities. This
is what will distinguish AmeriPath from its competition
in the future. Our focus continues to be on the local placement
of highly qualified GI pathologists, reinforced by the
resources of a national company, in order to achieve and
maintain a truly unparalleled record of excellence in support
of the medical communities and the patients we serve. Again,
please welcome Dr. Robles to AmeriPath North Texas.”
Dr. Robles graduated from the School of Osteopathic Medicine,
University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He
went on to do a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology,
with training at both the University of California, Irvine,
and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles. As Chief
Resident at the University of California, Irvine, Dr. Robles
played a key role in the planning and conduct of resident
training and participated in interdisciplinary tumor boards
and medical conferences. Upon concluding his residency,
Dr. Robles accepted the position of Surgical Pathology
Fellow, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center,
Dallas. During the term of his fellowship, he solidified
his training in anatomic pathology with full sign-out authority,
participation in GI tumor boards, and the administration
of resident training and development.
Dr. Stephen Jolissaint, Medical Director of AmeriPath
North Texas, stated, “We are extremely pleased that
Dr. Michael Robles has joined our AmeriPath North Texas
team and that he will be providing high-level interpretive
skills and administrative direction for GI pathology. His
fellowship training and professional growth at AmeriPath
will serve to bring unique new approaches to the diagnosis
and management of GI diseases and will reaffirm AmeriPath’s
vision of providing high-quality GI pathology services
to our referring physicians.”
