AMERIPATH, INC. ANNOUNCES NEW ACQUISITION
Riviera Beach, FL, March 9, 1998 - AmeriPath, Inc. (Nasdaq:
PATH), a physician practice management company focused
on anatomic pathology services, announced today that
it has completed the acquisition of an anatomic pathology
practice located in Texas. Terms of the transaction were
not disclosed.
Rhonda R. Porterfield, M.D. is a hospital-based pathology
practice located in Denton, Texas. It operates from Denton
Community Hospital, which is based north of Dallas. This
acquisition is the Company's third in the Texas market.
Combining Dr. Porterfield with Freeman-Cockerell Laboratories
and UniPath, AmeriPath's first two acquisitions in Texas,
this brings the total number of AmeriPath anatomic pathologists
in the Dallas metropolitan area to 25.

for her practice in the 10 years she has worked in the
