AMERIPATH ENTERS WISCONSIN MARKET

Riviera Beach, Florida - May 7, 1998 - AmeriPath, Inc. (Nasdaq: PATH), a physician practice management company focused on anatomic pathology services, announced today that it has entered into a long-term management agreement with a hospital-based pathology practice, Consultant Physicians in Pathology (CPIP) located in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

CPIP is a leading provider of anatomic pathology services in south central Wisconsin that employs five pathologists who provide diagnostic services to six hospitals and one outpatient lab. This arrangement is the Company's first entry into the Wisconsin market.

Jim New, President and Chief Executive Officer of AmeriPath stated, "This agreement illustrates our committed expansion efforts in the Midwest region. By entering the Wisconsin market, this assists us securing regional managed care contracts. We feel that CPIP's pathology services will augment AmeriPath's existing practices in the Midwest."
