AMERIPATH ACQUIRES PATHOLOGY PRACTICE

Riviera Beach, FL, April 5, 1999 - AmeriPath, Inc. (Nasdaq: PATH), a physician group practice focused on anatomic pathology services, continues to build on its regional business model by announcing the acquisition of Plaza Pathology, P.A. located in Fort Worth, Texas. The practice had annualized net revenues of $1.5 million in 1998. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

AmeriPath, Inc. is the nation's leading physician group practice focused on providing anatomic pathology services to physicians, hospitals, national clinical laboratories and managed care organizations.
