AMERIPATH, INC. ANNOUNCES AGREEMENT TO PROVIDE PATHOLOGY SERVICES TO BLUE CROSS
AND BLUE SHIELD OF FLORIDA
Riviera Beach, FL, April 23, 1999 - AmeriPath, Inc.
(Nasdaq: PATH), a physician group practice focused on
anatomic pathology services, continues to enhance its
regional business model in Florida. Today it announced
an agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida
to provide anatomic pathology diagnostic services to
members and enrollees of the insurer's HMO, PPS, and
PPC products.
AmeriPath employs 67 pathologists and 13 dermatopathologists
in its Florida operations, who provide diagnostic pathology
services to dermatologists, hematologists/oncologists,
urologists, ob/gyns, as well as inpatient hospitals,
surgery centers, and others in the medical community.
The Letter of Agreement, which was effected on April
21, 1999, is for a three-year term which covers all of
AmeriPath's 11 practices and six laboratories in Florida
and represents the Company's ongoing commitment to developing
and maintaining long-term relationships with its managed
care partners.
