AmeriPath Colorado, Gastrointestinal Pathology SpecialistDr. Stephens is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology. For over 20 years, she has provided critical consultative pathology services to referring physicians and their patients. Dr. Stephens has served in numerous key academic and clinical positions, including Associate Professor, University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine; Staff Pathologist, Denver Veterans Administration Medical Center (DVAMC); Assistant Professor, University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine; and Health Sciences Center; Staff Pathologist, Exempla St. Joseph Hospital, Denver; and Director of Surgical Pathology, DVAMC. Throughout her esteemed career, Dr. Stephens has also served with utmost distinction as a residency program director and as an invaluable member of several important academic committees, including medical school admissions, chief of service, education, finance, resident evaluation and selection, and anatomic pathology quality improvement. She has also directed a histopathology laboratory and electron microscopy facility. Dr. Stephens has received the Kaiser Permanente Teaching Award; William S. Hammond, M.D., Excellence in Teaching Award; and the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer’s Association Foundation Award in Pharmacology-Morphology. As a gifted writer, Dr. Stephens has authored/coauthored many GI- and cytopathology-relevant scientific articles that were subsequently published in some of our more prestigious medical journals. She also coauthored several pathology-related book chapters and educational CD-ROMs.
