General Information
Clinical Utility
For the detection of -5/5q deletion to aid in the assessment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). Deletion 5q is present in about 10 to15 percent of de novo MDS patients and in as many as 50 percent of therapy-related MDS. 5q deletion, as a sole abnormality, confers a favorable prognosis.
