Description:

Pathology Specimen Shippers were designed to safely ship biopsy bottles from the physician's location to the AmeriPath Lab. Four sizes of specimen shippers are currently available to accommodate a variety of needs. Each shipper is provided with a zip-lock biohazard bag in which the biopsy bottles are sealed. This bag is then placed inside the screw cap canister. Each canister is lined with an absorbent material incase the contents leak during shipping. A custom, DOT approved, shipping box is provided. This box can be shipped via commercial carrier, such as FedEx, without additional packing. In some cases however, because the box is small, FedEx will require that the box be placed in a FedEx shipper pack and the air bill applied to this.

Applications:

These shippers can be utilized by any referring physician's office were small numbers of biopsy bottles are shipped to and from the lab via courier or commercial carrier.

Directions for Use:

1. Complete requisition.
2. Place biopsy bottles in zip-lock biohazard bag and seal.
3. Place zip-lock bag into the screw-cap absorbent lined shipping container and secure lid.
4. Place screw-cap container into the cardboard box, which has been approved for commercial shipping and seal.
5. Place appropriate air bill on box or place in commercial outer pack per specific shippers instructions.

Note: Typically, if a commercial carriers air bill fits on the outside of the box, the box can be shipped as is. If the air bill does not fit on the box the box will need to be out into a commercial carriers shipping pack and air bill then applied to this.
